Vikki Pendry from the Curriculum Foundation will be working with us to provide support for school leaders to ensure they are well prepared to answer the following questions:

The content and structure of the learning in the Foundation Subjects.

What is important for your children to know, understand and be able to do by the time they leave (given your school’s context)?

How do you structure the curriculum in each subject to ensure progress (knowing more and remembering more)?

How well is the curriculum structured over time? What is taught? Where is the intent at subject level?

How do you structure the curriculum so that learning in each subject helps children to make connections? Pedagogy – how can your curriculum be best delivered?

Achievement for all

How well is the curriculum sequenced so that gaps in learning can be identified and all children have the best chance of success?

How is assessment used to identify gaps and remediate them?

How do you ensure that the curriculum alleviates the potential impact of disadvantage rather than perpetuates it?

Subject leaders will need to translate high aspiration into a curriculum that enables pupils to make progress Subject leaders will need to consider how children develop knowledge and progression – how does this apply to SEND?

Leadership of the curriculum

How do you develop the curriculum within the context of national policy?

How do you ensure that staff share a common understanding of the school’s curriculum? How do you evaluate the impact of the curriculum in light of your intentions?

How do you develop the curriculum in light of your evaluations?
